Applicants sought for open seat on Liberty Township Board

The Grant County Democratic Party is seeking applicants for an open position on Liberty Township Board.


Because this is a township that has a single precinct, there is no caucus required. The appointment will be made by the county chair.

Qualifications are:

  • Registered voter in Liberty Township who has lived in the township for at least one year (if you don't know what township you live in, check your voter registration at indianavoters.com)

  • A Democrat in good standing (or alternately, certification by the county chair)

  • Is not disqualified from holding office in Indiana for any reason listed in Indiana Code 3-8-1-5 (click here to view)

This is a paid position, with the most recent salary listed as $541.42 for the year, according to Indiana Gateway.


Township boards are required to meet annually. Additional meetings may be called.


Duties of a township board include:

  • Advising the township trustee concerning matters pertaining to the township.

  • Examining and approving the annual report of the township trustee.

  • Making appropriations and establishing tax rates and levies for the ensuing year, and making additional or emergency appropriations as needed.
